Enginuity, the charity dedicated to supporting UK engineering and manufacturing employers by finding new ways to close skills gaps and open opportunities, is celebrating their 10th annual Skills Awards during Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week on the 5th of June at Birmingham’s NEC.

The awards recognise apprentices, pioneers of skills development, and innovative engineers who are passionately and diligently tackling some of society’s biggest challenges.

Each year, leaders from the engineering and manufacturing industry across the UK gather at Enginuity’s Skills Awards to celebrate the finest talent and commend the organizations dedicated to advancing skills development to ensure a bright future for these vital sectors in the UK economy. This year’s landmark 10th installation of the awards is no different, making Smart Manufacturing & Engineering week an ideal backdrop for the celebration.

The Skills Awards offers an array of categories catering to various areas, ranging from the Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion award to distinctions like the Large and SME Employer Skills Champion awards and Training Partner Skills Champion award. In addition, the awards encompass specialised accolades tailored to individuals committed to enhancing their expertise in the field, such as the T Level Student award and multiple apprenticeship categories. Winners of both the T Level Student award and the apprenticeship categories stand to gain a £1,000 prize, with two deserving runners-up in each category receiving £500.

Earlybird tickets are now available to purchase for the Gala Dinner until Sunday 31st March 2024, which will take place on Wednesday 5th June: https://enginuity.org/skills-awards-2024

Grace Gilling, Managing Director of The Manufacturer said “We are thrilled that Enginuity will be hosting their 10th Annual Skills Awards as part of Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week. These awards provide a fantastic platform for individuals and companies to enhance their visibility and credibility, while having their remarkable achievements acknowledged by industry experts. We are honoured to contribute to this vital fixture within the UK Manufacturing and Engineering Industry. At Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week, our unwavering focus on people and skills is paramount, making the inclusion of the Enginuity Skills Awards a natural fit for our event.”

Demonstrating the compatibility of Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week and the Enginuity Skills Awards is their mutual prioritisation of sustainability. This year, Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week will maintain its carbon-neutral status, having planted over 20,000 trees in the Nineteen Group Forest since 2022. Enginuity is also contributing to the fight against climate change by offsetting 59 tonnes of carbon dioxide, achieving this by supporting a Global Portfolio of Verified Carbon Reduction Projects via Carbon Footprint.

In addition to the Enginuity Skills Awards a myriad of other activities will be taking place at Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week. The main days are 5 – 6 June 2024 with Smart Factory Expo, Design & Engineering Expo and Maintec in Hall 4 at the NEC and Drives & Controls, Fluid Power & Systems and Air-tech in Hall 5. Other exhibitions are also taking place at the NEC during the week, and these include TCT 3Sixty from Rapid News Group and Subcon from the Mark Allen Group. A single visitor registration to Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week 2024 provides access to these co-located expos.
