Fast growing manufacturing company represented at key defence industry expo

Titan Manufacturing, a thriving precision manufacturing company in Weymouth, Dorset, has attended a major military expo as it drives ambitious growth plans forwards.

The company, which specialises in sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining laser cutting and surface finishing, creates solutions fit for the most challenging environments.

Having fulfilled military contracts in the past, Titan was among key suppliers and Ministry of Defence stakeholders at biennial Defence industry exhibition, DVD, taking at stand at the event and showcasing its capabilities with those responsible for defence sector procurement

Jon Higson, MD of Titan Manufacturing, said:

“This was an important opportunity to develop our relationships with key stakeholders responsible for MOD and military procurement, meeting people face to face and sharing who we are and what we can do.

“Defence is an uncompromising sector, and their standard are rightly incredibly high – as are ours. We are already working at NADCAP – the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program – standards and working towards accreditation.

“We were pleased to connect with so many key figures across this space and deepen our understanding of the future landscape of defence. Titan is ready and able to take on work in this vital sector.”

DVD 2024, which took place from September 18th to 19th at UTAC Millbrook (United Test and Assembly Center), is jointly sponsored by Defence Equipment & Support (Land Equipment) and Army Headquarters – the MOD teams responsible for equipping and supporting the UK’s Armed Forces operations.

It includes informal discussions, briefings, demonstrations and displays, providing a forum for representatives from industry and the MOD to discuss ‘Battle Winning Ideas’, with the focus this year on delivering a ‘More Modern, More Lethal and More Productive Army’

Maj Gen Lizzie Faithfull-Davies CBE, the newly appointed Director Land Equipment, said the event provides: “a unique opportunity for industry to gain a better understanding of MOD needs, through direct engagement with Army, and the expertise of Defence Equipment & Support staff”

Titan, which predominantly provides manufacturing services to the defence and food industries, including making key production line components, also appeared at a second expo event this month; the PPMA Show, at the NEC Birmingham from September 24 to 26 – the largest processing and packaging machinery exhibition in the UK, with 8000 attendees over three days.

Adds Jon Higson, of Titan, said:

“These expos are a fantastic way for us to showcase who we are and what we can offer to those at heart of the defence and food and beverage industries.

“These two sectors both demand the most exacting standards and flawless execution and finish. Our capabilities and deep understanding of what they need make us ideal partners, as we continue our focus on expanding our business in these areas.”

Titan manufacturing, which secured significant private investment last year, is in a period of ambitious growth, having opened a second £1.8m purpose-built production workshop this summer, bringing their total factory premises up to 30,000 sq ft.

The new facility is equipped with a 4m flatbed fibre laser for precision cutting, 250 tonne hydraulic press brake sheet metal folding machine, glass bead blast finishing and paint spraying facilities and four new Hurco CNC machines to help increase production capabilities and allow Titan to meet the growing demand for its quality services.
