Leeds-Based Manufacturer takes Next Step in Mental Health Strategy
Determined to adapt its company culture to better suit its team members, Leeds-based cardboard box manufacturer, Greyhound Box, has invested further capital into their 2023 employee wellbeing mission with the help of another local manufacturer, Imageco.
When asked about their mission, Louise O’Brien, Managing Director at Greyhound Box, said: “One of our main goals this year was to put a bigger focus on our employee’s mental health in order to improve their experience at work and encourage internal progression.
It’s common in the manufacturing industry for companies to focus on their team’s physical well-being, so much so that they forget about their mental well-being, but we are changing that! We want to create a safe and creative environment for our employees that will promote teamwork.”
This isn’t the first time Greyhound Box’s Managing Director, Louise O’Brien, has been in the spotlight for her commitment to her team. In 2022, she was awarded the Manufacturer Top 100 Inspiring Leader award after spearheading employee wellbeing strategies in manufacturing. Under her leadership, Greyhound Box has implemented multiple strategies since the beginning of 2023, to improve the well-being of their staff. Including earlier finishes, increased training programs, and a dedicated mental health safe space.
Their latest step towards positive employee wellbeing features a collaboration with sustainable wide-format print manufacturer, Imageco, to create a new office space in the centre of their Leeds-based warehouse. Resulting in a space where employees can not only escape the industrial factory floor, but also safely meet with clients.
Louise added:
“The new refurb provides our team with a neutral environment that allows them to produce work away from the loud machinery and bustling factory floor.
For example, if a member of staff requires a few hours to fully concentrate on a particular task that is creative, or attend a meeting without distractions, this room provides that opportunity and creates an atmosphere that is quiet and calming.”
As sustainability is a value that is important to every one of their employees, Greyhound Box aims to achieve a green carbon footprint with the help of the local Leeds ecosystem. With the expert assistance of fellow Beza Road occupants, Imageco, their new office refurb was built with exclusively eco-conscious materials.
When asked about their work with Louise O’Brien and the wider Greyhound Box Team, Imageco CEO Nathan Swinson Bullough, said:
“We were very proud to work with Greyhound Box on the design of their refurb, especially as our company values align so well.
As a fellow Leeds-based business in the manufacturing sector, we know how important it is to create beautiful spaces that promote teamwork and calmness, while also prioritising sustainability. So, we’re always happy to help our fellow local organisations achieve their eco-friendly and mental health-boosting goals.”
Throughout 2023 Greyhound Box will continue working to achieve their employee mental well-being goals with numerous new strategies.
