Using data loggers in manufacturing, process and industrial applications

Featured Newsletter Product News

Tinytag data loggers accurately and reliably monitor temperature, humidity, power usage, CO2 and other environmental parameters. Made in the UK by Gemini Data Loggers, Tinytags include splashproof indoor units for ambient monitoring and rugged, waterproof units for manufacturing, process and industrial applications. Robust data loggers are built to withstand extremes of temperature and harsh conditions.

For high-consumption industrial facilities, energy data loggers are a useful tool in driving and maintaining energy efficiency. Monitoring energy usage helps to identify where steps can be taken to improve energy efficiency and maximise cost savings.

Simple technology that works

Easy to use and cost-effective, the Tinytag range of data loggers includes standalone (USB) and radio/LAN loggers. Instead of taking manual temperature and humidity readings, small standalone data loggers can be left in situ to record independently.

The Tinytag Connect system for Radio and LAN data loggers is available for sites with multiple and/or remote monitoring points. Mix-and-match Radio and LAN data loggers in one system to meet site or infrastructure requirements, adding or moving loggers as requirements change. Data is automatically collected 24/7 and transmitted wirelessly, over Ethernet/LAN, or via a mobile connection (with a 4G receiver/router) for viewing on a PC.

Calibration

Ensuring your Tinytag data loggers perform accurately over time is essential to industries with high quality control standards and regulations. Purchase traceable manufacturer calibration certificates at the point of sale or as a recurring annual service for existing Tinytag data loggers. For stricter regulatory needs, UKAS ISO 17025 calibration is performed by our trusted partner.

Typical Applications

Monitoring temperatures during manufacturing and processes

Robust Tinytags monitor industrial process temperatures, including measuring extremes of temperature and product core temperatures, to comply with internal procedures and to meet regulations.

Measuring ambient conditions for comparative data

Many audits and in-house procedures involve comparing both ambient and process temperatures. Indoor, splashproof Tinytag data loggers monitor temperature and humidity in workplaces and throughout premises to provide historical and comparative data.

Building monitoring for maintenance and facilities management

Monitor environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, to ensure the well-being and comfort of occupants and help to identify where steps can be taken to improve energy efficiency.

Energy efficiency and management

Tinytags monitor power usage and environmental conditions locally or throughout premises, helping to identify times of peak load and power-hungry or inefficient equipment and highlighting opportunities to improve energy efficiency and cost savings.

Case Studies

We have several interesting case studies which detail how our customers are using Tinytag data loggers in manufacturing and process applications. These include:

Manufacturer Makin Metal Powders uses rugged Tinytag Plus 2 high-temperature (up to 600°C) data loggers to monitor high-heat processes and Tinytag View 2 temperature and humidity data loggers with displays to maintain ambient conditions in their process laboratory.

Protective glove manufacturer Midas Safety uses Tinytag Ultra 2 temperature and humidity data loggers to monitor the conditions required for compliance with quality testing standards including EN 388:2016 and ASTM F2992.

Baker Ruskinn uses Tinytag Ultra 2 temperature and humidity data loggers for final testing and quality control of cell culture workstations.

Tinytag Ultra 2 thermocouple data loggers are used to record temperature data during the heat curing of medical-grade acrylic at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

Key Products

Tinytag Plus 2

The Plus 2 range of Tinytag data loggers includes loggers with built-in temperature and humidity sensors (-25 to +85°C/0 to 100% RH), as well as devices capable of measuring temperatures from -50°C up to 250/300/600°C (depending on model of PT100 probe).

Tinytag Ultra 2

The Tinytag Ultra 2 TGU-4550 model data logger supports four types of thermocouple sensors – K, J, T, and N – offering cost-effective and fast response monitoring from -200°C to +1370°C (depending on the sensor used). It also has a built-in temperature sensor (-40 to +85°C) allowing simultaneous monitoring of process and ambient temperatures.

Tinytag Energy

The Energy Logger monitors voltage and current, and determines power and power factor. Peak and average values can be recorded. Voltage is measured via the standard mains lead and current is measured using non-invasive flexible coils. It can be used for spot checks and longer-term recording.

Tinytag Connect: Radio and LAN Loggers

Indoor and outdoor/rugged radio and LAN loggers, with optional mobile connectivity (4G receiver/router). The Tinytag Ultra Radio indoor radio logger monitors temperatures from -20 to +55°C using a built-in sensor; other models are available with probes.

Tinytag View 2

The Tinytag View 2 TV-4500 monitors temperatures from -25 to +50°C and relative humidity from 0 to 100% using built-in sensors. Also featuring a display, this logger provides current readings on-screen in addition to recording historical data.
