Specialist formulation and manufacturing partner JT Grosvenor has announced a £200,000 capital investment to expand production capacity and support future growth at its Yorkshire site. The investment responds to growing demand from specialty chemical markets while reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to manufacturing in the North.

The business offers end-to-end support for specialty chemical products, from formulation development and regulatory compliance through to manufacturing, filling, packing and distribution. Delivered from a single site, this integrated approach enables customers to move efficiently from concept to full-scale commercial supply.

The investment will increase production capacity by 25 per cent, reduce manual handling, and improve operational efficiency across the site. JT Grosvenor is forecasting a further 20 per cent increase in output during the current year.

The announcement follows a year of strong operational performance, with output increasing by more than 80 per cent year-on-year. Improved efficiency across the business has enabled higher output, strengthened competitiveness and supported continued growth.

During the period, the business has focused on organic growth within its existing customer base, driven by a more customer-centric approach and enhanced technical and service support. This has deepened partnerships with SME customers across animal care, garden care, adhesives and sealants, and household and industrial cleaning products, supporting products as they move from development through to full-scale commercial supply. Services include in-house formulation and manufacturing, filling and packing, and global distribution.

This increase in customer demand has resulted in a 15 per cent growth in permanent staff over the last 12 months across manufacturing, planning, and technical functions. In parallel, JT Grosvenor continues to invest in training and development to strengthen skills and technical expertise across the organisation. Around 90 per cent of employees live within 15 minutes of the Huddersfield site, highlighting the company’s role in providing skilled, long-term employment and supporting the local economy.

Chris Storer, General Manager at JT Grosvenor, said: “We help specialty chemical businesses scale with confidence. By bringing formulation expertise and end-to-end manufacturing together under one roof, we make it easier for customers to move from development into full production, without the usual headaches around supply and consistency.

“We’ve been doing this for more than 50 years, and that experience really matters. Many of our team have spent decades in formulation and manufacturing, and that know-how sits at the heart of the business. This investment is about backing that expertise for the long term and showing that high-quality, competitive manufacturing can be grown and sustained right here in the North.”
