Machining and Fabrication company Titan Manufacturing have announced their sponsorship of British wheelchair tennis star, Lucy Shuker, on her journey to the next Paralympic Games.
A trailblazer in the sport for almost two decades, Lucy, who lives in Wimborne, Dorset, has represented Great Britain at the last five Paralympic Games, securing bronze medals in the women’s doubles event in both London and Rio, and a silver medal in the women’s doubles in Tokyo 2020. She also had the honour of being selected to be the flag bearer for Great Britain at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Titan Manufacturing, based in Weymouth in Lucy’s home county of Dorset, is getting behind her as she sets her sights on her next big goal – the 2028 Games in Los Angeles – which would be her sixth time representing Great Britain on the Paralympic Games world stage.
Jon Higson, MD of Titan Manufacturing, said:
“Lucy is a total inspiration. It has been a privilege to get to know her and learn more about her story, everything she has overcome, and all that she continues to achieve. We look forward to following and supporting her progress over the next 12 months and beyond.
“To get to the top of a sport and stay there for some 20 years, representing Great Britain in five Paralympic Games is truly astonishing, requiring incredible commitment, hard work and passion.
“We are incredibly proud to be supporting Lucy and sponsoring her as she continues her training journey towards the next Paralympic Games.”
Beyond her Paralympic success, Lucy has consistently ranked among the top players globally, earning over 100 international career titles. She was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2023 Birthday Honours for services to sport.
Off the court, she is a speaker, coach, and passionate advocate for disability sports. Through her journey from a life-changing motorcycle accident to becoming a leading figure in wheelchair tennis, she inspires and encourages others, including the next generation of Paralympic athletes.
Lucy said:
“I’m incredibly grateful to the team at Titan for their support. Over the next 12 months, they’ll not only provide financial sponsorship but also join me for a training session, where I look forward to sharing more about this fantastic sport and the dedication it requires.
“The game continues to grow year on year, making it tougher than ever to stay among the world’s best. Yet, after all these years, I still love it and remain passionate about working hard to be the best version of myself. A huge thank you to Titan for supporting me in pursuing my dream of competing at the Paralympic Games in LA in 2028.”
Ryan Hanger, Director at Titan Manufacturing, added:
“We are so excited to support Lucy in her dream of representing Great Britain once again and to be a small part in her journey towards achieving it. We’ll be following her progress closely and cheering her on every step of the way.”
